All Over The Place

by Powderhound Cat December 1 2011 3 Comments

When I was trying to plan out a way to tell you about how thrilling the last two weeks have been, all I could think was, "I've been all over the place!"

Utah is so amazing, the resorts all have something so special to offer, and they celebrate their opening days so uniquely. I tried to make as many as I could.

I hope you'll bear with me, here I go:

I started my season out at Brighton. There was hot cocoa, tunes were playing, and everyone rushed to get up the lift and cruise back down the runs. Everyone looked pro, as though they had been skiing all summer!

At Solitude the next day, we were amazed by the snow quality and amount of skiable terrain.

I skied another day at Solitude, then headed out to Snowbird for their opening day. TV cameras were everywhere!

Next, back in Park City, PCMR hosted us with donuts, coffee, and the first chair at each lift got commemorative T shirts! There were ski demos and the new beginner area was open for lessons.

After a day at Alta, which of course ended up coinciding with a nice storm of fresh snow, I needed a few days to rest my rusty Powderhound legs. Someone should have worked out this summer.

Thanksgiving Day, I went out to Snowbasin. I was pretty thrilled - they had a professional photographer capturing everyone's excitement. Also, riding up the gondola on a holiday ensures some good story telling and friend making.

The most recent resort opening was Canyons, the day after Thanksgiving. I made it up to the Orange Bubble just in time to grab the last beanie they were giving away to 100 lucky guests. I haven't taken it off since...

I also got to ski with some people you might be able to squint and recognize in my little video...

I am already planning trips out to the resorts I haven't made it to yet, I'm sure each one will be a day to remember.

Which resorts have you been to? Any opening days?

While we haven't had crazy big dumps (I'm SURE they are on their way) I put together a film of the fun and goofing around we do around here on groomers.

I got this new GoPro, and made my first video in a real editing program, be kind:

Make sure if you are on Facebook to like all the resort pages to see all the great photos and videos from each one.

And of course the Yeti too!
