Coming Soon: City Creek Center

by Powderhound Cat October 31 2011 0 Comments

Before, during, and after the hard hat media tour I was able to attend last week, I got asked the same question:

"What does the City Creek Center development have to do with skiing?"

Fortunately for you, the answer is "so much!" and I get to tell you all about it.

City Creek Center is about 140 days away from opening its doors as a new 23 acre shopping mecca in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City.

Whether you are a fashionista or a Sno Bro getting a birthday present for mom, there will be something for everyone, as the retail center brings numerous new to market stores (Tiffany, BCBG, N3L Optics, Nordstrom and Michael Kors to name a few).

Ski related bonuses include:

*Airline flight information with weather in your destination city

*Skier friendly parking - as in each spot is tested to fit an Expedition with a full ski rack

*Ski resort conditions updated real time

Think about all that. You're skiing, you head home and stop for a lunch al fresco in the spring, see your flight is delayed, and you are able to take in a weather protected extra day of shopping.

Oh, did I forget to metion the heated sidewalks and retractable roof? Just a few of the countless custom designs.

With the addition of this high end design and the amenities and exciting new retailers, Salt Lake will be on the map, not just as the only city opening a project like this on 2012 (it's true!) but as a perfect destination for skiing *and* shopping.

I don't know about you, but I get plenty of company that loves the outdoors as many days as possible, and then might need a break. Seeing City Creek last week made me look forward to having something new to experience with friends and family that come to ski.

Does it get any better than that?
