Snowbird Gets 10" to Start November

by Utah Author November 3 2008 0 Comments

Yesterday in the valley it was raining cats and dogs - coming down hard. All I could think about was how much is it snowing up on the mountain.

When I awoke the Wasatch was white and Snowbird had received 10" of snow at the top of Hidden Peak with an expectation that with the storm rolling in as I type another 1-2 feet will arrive.

This is today! The Snowbird SnowCam is BACK!!

What a great way to start off November.   With temperatures dropping below freezing, Snowbird will have the snow guns running beginning this evening.

“Over the weekend, Snowbird ushered in winter with an impressive early season storm,” said Snowbird President Bob Bonar. “With more snow on the way this week, everyone is eagerly awaiting opening day and the start of another memorable year in Little Cottonwood.”

The 10 inches of weekend snowfall is the first recorded accumulation for the 2008-09 ski season.

If this storm keeps rolling in and more follow, a check of their early season lodging packages are might be in order as they start at $99/night.

A Note to Locals

The Tram will be open for scenic foot passenger rides from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8-9. A foot passenger Tram ticket is $12. Lift tickets and season passes will be honored on the Tram but there will be no skiing or riding from the Tram.
