When I die, I'm going to Powder Mountain
When I die, I'm going to Powder Mountain. This place is a little slice of heaven especially on a powder day, which is pretty much like every day of the year.
Next time you're up at PowMow, sign up for the all day Powder Safari. The real beauty behind this operation is with this much terrain Powder Mountain offers an experience akin to a remote snowcat operation, yet it's still adjacent to a resort, accommodating families or groups where some members want to ride the lifts while others do the Backcountry thing. It's a terrific setup. In addition to it be super accommodating, the terrain options are endless, powder skiers of all ability levels can really enjoy this place, so really don't be afraid to try it.
My ski pal Marc Guido from www.firsttracksonline.com made a great point today, he described Powder Mountain's Snowcat Safaris as "The most laid-back all-day cats he's ever experienced. Most operations have the guides go first and request that you farm your turns right next to the guide's. Not here. Powder Mountain is more of a "Here's the fall line, stop when you hit the cat road...now go have fun" type of operation. We were given reasonably free reign of the lines we wanted to ski. We didn't have to stay behind the guides. In short, we simply had fun."
Marc also tracked our Powder Safari today by GPS. To see our tour check the link below. Our tour is the aqua blue line.
