November 18: Alta Ski Area Opening Day

Today people were yelling their lungs out when Alta opened for the season at 9:15 a.m. We found the best snow off both sides of the High Traverse. We had the extra adventure of walking across a few rocks along the Hight T, but once we found our line the skiing was awesome. We got about three untracked powder runs off the front of the High T and by the Green Mat. With the High T deteriorating quickly, we decided to head to Wildcat. There we found good tracked up crud snow. There were some early season obstacles to avoid. After it got skied up, most of the rocks were well visible. With hazards easily visible, we ripped a few more Wildcat laps. After lots of great skiing our legs were shot, so we called it a day. Check out this clip Randy Reynolds shot of us ripping the pow.
