The dump is here!!! Today I woke up, looked out my window, celebrated for a few minutes, and cruised over to The Canyons. We found the best skiing off the Saddleback and Sun Peak Express lifts. With new snow on the ground the skiing was good, and continued to get better throughout the day. The groomers were nice and soft making it easy to hold an edge. They also had some rails set up at the top of the Sun Peak Express. They mostly had straight and curved box style rails. The mountain was almost totally empty. We were able to ski fast without having to dodge a bunch of people. We were also able to ski right on to the chair without waiting. With the storm finally here, patrol seemed optimistic that they will soon be able open more terrain. We cruised one last run down Kokopelli and went back to the gondola. The guys at the bottom of the gondola informed us that Smokie's, located at the base of the resort, is opening up for après ski. Smokie’s is a fun place to grab a beer, kick back and brag about how you ripped all day. It’s still dumping! It looks like tomorrow we’ll be measuring the snow in feet, not inches. The skiing is about to get really good! Check out the video shot by Randy Reynolds.
