He wanted Sundance, named after his iconic role in the equally iconic film Butch Cassidy in the Sundance Kid, to be a place where people could connect with nature and themselves. Discover the Artist Within

Picture yourself standing at a painting easel before the towering Mount Timpanogos, molding clay in a pottery class or creating a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. Find your spark of creativity and take home a special souvenir of your time at Sundance.

 

Custom Journal Creation

Watch your memories take shape beneath your hands as you create your own custom leather journal. Design and imprint the leather cover with metal stamps and burning tools, then create paper signatures and stitch them to the cover for a one-of-a kind journal or notebook.

 

Jewelry making

Learn one of the oldest forms of jewelry making by creating your own ring, bracelet or pendant in the silversmithing class. Learn to set a semi-precious stone in sterling silver and bring your treasure home.

 

Painting and print making

Sundance art instructors will help you define your impression of the Sundance environment in watercolor, acrylic, oil, charcoal or drawing pencil.

 

Pottery classes

Feel clay take shape beneath your fingers as you make and glaze your own wheel-thrown or hand-built pieces. Sundance’s master potters will fire your creation and send it along to you in a few weeks.

 

Soap making

See and smell the unique Sundance soaps take form in a soap making class. Learn about the ingredients used and choose different essential oils and plant materials to create and take home your own Sundance creation.

Dining = Art

At Sundance, food is more than just nourishment. Creating unique dining experiences, encouraging sharing, conversation and communal tables is part of the Sundance mission to engage and enrich. Enjoy a romantic, candlelit dinner among the beautiful Native American art from Robert Redford’s private collection at The Tree Room. Eat simple, frontier-inspired comfort food, seasoned the wood smoke at the Foundry Grill. Take a break from skiing and enjoy the unspoiled views at Bearclaw Cabin and close out your day at the Owl Bar over a hand-crafted cocktail at the actual wooden bar where notorious outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid plotted their nefarious schemes. 

Summer Theater in the Mountains

For nearly a decade, the summer theater productions at Sundance Mountain Resort have drawn theater lovers to enjoy family-friendly theater productions in a stunning outdoor setting. The players, cast from local talent in partnership with Utah Valley University, will present the classic American musical Oklahoma! July 19 through August 11, 2018. 

Bluebird Cafe Concert Series

As the sun sets, you’ll gather on a beautiful outdoor amphitheater for an evening of music. Each summer, Sundance collaborates with The Bluebird Cafe a world-famous listening room in Nashville, Tenn. to bring a curated selection of the Music City’s best singers, songwriters and musicians to play under the evening sky.

New in 2018 Sundance Mountain Music Series

Building on the success of the Bluebird Café concert series, Sundance is partnering with the bookers behind two of Salt Lake City’s best music venues (Urban Lounge and Kilby Court) to launch the Sundance Mountain Music concert series. The series kicks off on June 20 with the famous Scottish band Belle and Sebastian. The rest of this larger concert offering will be announced in Spring 2018. For tickets and updates, click here.
