Powder Mountain Resort will begin offering the Summer Safari 4X4 Adventure Tours on Friday, June 19, just in time for Father’s Day.
Guided tours in an oversized rock crawler affectionately named Powzilla range from smooth scenic drives to exciting adventures climbing boulder fields or venturing down narrow canyons. “Who needs an amusement park for thrills when you crawl over boulders to the top of mountains? Most guests start out just wanting to see some great views and to get a glimpse of some wildlife, but they end up asking the driver to show them what Powzilla can do.” said Roger Arave, Summer Safari Guide.
Guides can choose routes over 10,000+ acres within the resort boundaries. Each three-hour tour is customized to meet the desires of the individual guests and to take advantage of the changing scenery, wildlife, and weather. The four wheel drive vehicle has 42 inch tires, a full roll cage and a canvas top used in case of inclement weather. The tours have been so popular that a second rock crawler named Ski-Rex is under construction.
Powder Mountain’s terrain includes steep slopes designated as black diamond ski runs in the winter, winding trails through groves of aspens & pine and roads high atop mountain ridges surrounded by acres of wildflowers. Typical areas to be explored include Lightning Ridge, Cobabe Canyon and White Pine Basin. A spectacular overlook into Ogden Valley from the south end of the resort includes the Great Salt Lake, Uintah Mountains, Wyoming, Idaho and Nevada.
Tours are available daily, weather permitting. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 1-801-745-3772 Extension 181 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
