Alta, Utah—Here’s a camp just for women who want to learn to ski, or
improve their skills and ski better. This immersion camp provides a setting
where participants will be coached in a positive environment to help get them
to the next level of skiing. And it’s all packaged together at the historic Alta
Lodge, with women instructors from Alta’s Alf Engen Ski School,
ski equipment, lodging, breakfasts and dinners.
Located in the heart of the Wasatch
Mountains, but only 30 miles from Salt Lake
International Airport,
Alta is a true mountain resort, but is easy to get to from any major city.
During the three-day camp, beginning
skiers will learn how to stop, turn and control their speed. Intermediate skiers will sharpen their skiing
skills and gain confidence on the blue slopes.
With 25 percent beginner runs and 40 percent intermediate runs, and with
wonderfully easy to ski groomed powder snow, Alta is the ideal mountain for new
and improving skiers. After skiing, the
group builds camaraderie with gatherings in the Sitzmark, Alta Lodge’s historic
ski bar, and dinners and breakfasts in the Alta Lodge restaurant. Participants will also have time to relax and
recharge with a massage, sauna, hot pool or afternoon tea.
For women ages 18 and older, the
camp includes four nights lodging, breakfast and dinner daily, three full days
of ski instruction, three days of skiing at Alta and three days of ski
equipment rental. The camp cost is $1,349 per person for beginning skiers and $1,457
per person for intermediate skiers, standard room, double occupancy. Tax and
service charge are included, and other room options are also available.
The Women’s Ski Camp for Beginning and Intermediate Skiers builds on the success of the popular Alta Lodge Women’s Ski Camp for Intermediate and Advanced skiers, now in its fourth year, scheduled this year for January 21-25, 2010.
About the Lodge
Opened in 1939 by the Denver
& Rio Grande Railroad as Alta's first ski lodge, Alta Lodge is part of a
rare tradition of mountain inns where the attentiveness and warmth of a
family-owned hotel is combined with the pleasures of excellent dining and
comfortable surroundings. Owned and operated by the Levitt family since 1959,
the Lodge is known for fine food and friendly ambiance, with a convenient ski-in/ski-out
location at the base of Alta Ski Area. For more information, visit
