Powderhound Matt's Ski Movie
on July 19, 2012
Every summer, after all the snow has melted from even the highest peaks in Utah I'm forced to throw in the towel on the ski season. This is always a very difficult time of year for me. I go through some serious withdrawals during the long hot summer months but I've found a way to at least trick my mind into thinking winter is still alive and well.
Every night when I get home from work, instead of turning on the TV or rolling down the sheets and heading off to sleep, I turn my iMac on and get to work, breaking down and editing the hundreds of hours of last year's ski footage. The first movie I made, three years ago, was called "Powder Pigs" and about 20 friends came over my place to watch. Last year's "Endless Winter" drew 40 or so friends, some ski bloggers and marketing folks from the resorts attended. Who knows by next year I may have to rent out the Energy Solutions Arena, well maybe I've taken this a little too far. Anyway, this year's film is called, "The Winter that wasn't. Or was it?" Now, while we all know the real answer to that question, it is really remarkable to see just how much good skiing we actually had last year. Looking back on all the footage, I'm shocked by it. That being said, enjoy the trailer, "The Winter that wasn't. Or was it?"
