SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Utah’s famously accessible skiing just got a little more convenient. On Thursday, August 23rd Delta Air Lines announced the addition of nonstop service to Paris, France out of the Salt Lake City hub beginning in June of 2008. The flights will be operated in conjunction with Delta’s SkyTeam partner Air France. Service will also be the first daily trans-Atlantic service ever offered by any airline from Salt Lake City and will be the only nonstop service operated by a U.S. carrier between the western United States and Paris.
“This flight is sure to act as a catalyst in the growth of international ski visits to Utah,” said Nathan Rafferty, president of Ski Utah, “We are pleased to have this addition to what is already the most accessible ski destination in the western United States.” Both Utah and France are known for fantastic skiing. Ski Utah is excited that the flight will allow European ski enthusiasts easier access to The Greatest Snow on Earth®.
Salt Lake City is currently the second largest hub for Delta Air Lines offering 371 peak-day departures to 114 destinations in North America. Delta will now claim Salt Lake City as its fourth trans-Atlantic gateway. Delta has been an important partner of Ski Utah since 2004. Ski Utah is a marketing firm owned and operated by the 13 statewide ski resorts that make up the Utah Ski & Snowboard Association. The organization has been creating brand awareness of and demand for the Utah wintersports product since its inception in 1978.
