SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – Ericka Askerlund of Herriman, Utah has trumped the previous high hand in Ski Utah’s license plate poker contest. Askerlund’s current winning hand of A88 8BW (four of a kind with Ace high) will prove very hard to beat as only two possible hands could top it. “This contest has proven to be very exciting,” said Nathan Rafferty, Ski Utah president, “Just when we think we have an unbeatable hand, a submission comes in to top it.” Submissions will be received until 5 p.m. on April 15 after the majority of Utah ski resorts close their lifts. Those interested in submitting a plate should be on the lookout for 9’s, 0’s (equal to 10) and W’s.
All Utah vehicle owners are eligible to enter Ski Utah License Plate Poker. Contestants must email a picture of their new plate with their name and city to poker@skiutah.com in order to enter. License plate letters and numbers are scored like poker hands. The player with the highest plate will hit the slopes next winter with a brand new pair of Rossignol skis and bindings or a Burton snowboard with bindings. Ski Utah will accept new contestants throughout the 2007-08 winter season.
