What's better than "The Greatest Snow on Earth?" - 58 FEET of The Greatest Snow on Earth!!!

SALT LAKE CITY, UT- On May 1, Alta Ski Area announced a season total snowfall of 702 inches making 2007-08 the third snowiest winter at Alta in the last 28 years. 702 inches equals 58.5 feet or 6 stories. While many resorts are busy preparing for summer activities, the state's plethora of snow is still creating amazing ski conditions at Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort which plans to remain open through the month of May. "We've seen over 20 inches of new snow in the first two days of May," said Snowbird Marketing Director Dave Fields. "These weekly storm cycles that started in December continue to deliver phenomenal skiing and riding."

Snowbird, which currently has a 143-inch base, will remain open for snowriding until May 11, after which they will be open Friday-Sunday through Memorial Day and possibly beyond.

"This has been a truly amazing winter," Ski Utah President Nathan Rafferty, "The incredible amount of snow we have received has created an unprecedented buzz amongst snowriders everywhere that Utah is the place to be for the best snow conditions on the planet."

Despite a slow start to the season, as the snow continued to pile up, so did skier visits. With at least a month remaining in the season, the total number of skier visits for the 2007-08 season is still unknown. But with a little luck and continued help from Mother Nature, a fifth record year for skier visits is not out of reach.

Ski Utah is the marketing organization owned and operated by the 13 statewide ski resorts that make up the Utah Ski and Snowboard Association. The organization has been creating brand awareness of and demand for the Utah wintersports product since its inception in 1978.
