National Magazines Rank Utah Resorts High in All Categories

October 31, 2012

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - Recent magazine rankings prove again that Utah is the leading ski destination in snow quality, access, value, terrain and more. After earning the top spot in 11 of 20 SKI magazine reader survey categories and having all three Park City resorts in the top 10 overall, more high rankings are rolling in from Skiing, Freeskier, Outside and Powder Magazine.

Skiing magazine ranked the John Paul Express chairlift at Snowbasin Resort as the “most rewarding way to get lifted” thanks to its access to over 2,400 vertical feet of diverse terrain and consistently short lift lines. Solitude Mountain Resort was awarded “least competition” on a powder day and Powder Mountain was given the “worthiest $100 Upgrade” because of the backcountry upgrade option for season pass holders that gives them access to 1000-acre touring zone and standby spots on cat-ski trips.

Alta / Snowbird ranked fifth in the overall rankings and number three for snow as a “powder haven” in Freeskier’s Resort Guide. Park City Mountain Resort ranked 10th overall and number two for terrain parks. Salt Lake International Airport ranked number four for “ski airports,” a testament to Utah’s easy accessibility.

Outside magazine recognized Utah’s Greatest Snow on Earth®, ranking Deer Valley Resort number one for “best powder stashes”. Canyons Resort ranked number two in Outside’s “best reinventions” thanks to the addition of the heated chairlift, winter zip tours, and additional terrain.

In Powder magazine’s Best Places to Ski issue, Utah’s different regions ranked high with Ogden (Snowbasin and Powder Mountain) number two, Salt Lake City (Alta, Brighton, Snowbird and Solitude) ranked number 16, and Park City (Canyons, Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resort) ranked number 18.
