Saturday Concert: The Slide Brothers

undefined

Canyons will once again have our amazing and FREE Saturday Summer Concert Series. Each Saturday, beginning July 5th and ending August 30th (there will not be a concert on July 12th), Canyons will have FREE live music starting at 6:00pm. The Cabriolet will be open until 9:30 pm on concert Saturdays.

Blankets, picnics and chairs will not be allowed in the concert venue until 4:00pm.

And due to the popularity of these concerts, we would appreciate carpooling, taking public transportation or riding your bicycle to the show!

About The Slide Brothers:

The Slide Brothers, introduced to much of America as part of the Experience Hendrix Tour, is a band comprised of best Sacred Steel players on Earth: Calvin Cooke, Aubrey Ghent, Chuck Campbell, Darick Campbell.   The Slide Brothers are, seriously, just a VERY SCARY idea (in a very good way!)  You know how Duane Allman and Dickie Betts of the Allman Brothers Band used to chase each other around on guitar? -- or how Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks at their very best do that now? OK, now imagine ALL OF THEM playing together. Now you're starting to get it.

- Mark Zaretsky/New Haven Register

"Like their mentor Robert Randolph, The Slide Brothers may have started out in the sacred steel tradition, but this debut is likely to frighten the bejesus out of the church elders. While gospel is most assuredly at the root of this 11-songer, the quartet-Calvin Cooke, Chuck Campbell, Darick Campbell and Aubrey Ghent-find as much comfort in the blues of Elmore James and the rock of The Allman Brothers Band and George Harrison as they do from the spirituals...'Praise You,' featuring a wailing Shemekia Copeland vocal, is powered by battling, screaming twin guitars that would have done Duane and Dickey (or Derek and Warren) proud."

Special Notes on Chairs:
Due to the steepness of our new concert venue, guests may bring their own chair to our concerts provided that the chair height is 9" or less. “Low back” chairs are therefore allowed, but camping chairs and chairs with sharp legs are not allowed. There are no exceptions to this rule and guests bringing chairs that do not meet this requirement will be asked to take them back to their vehicles. Chairs meeting the height requirements are available for purchase at Canyon Mountain Sports.
