Snowbasin Resort Reveals the Dining Discovery Events for the Summer

Snowbasin, UT May 2017 Snowbasin Resort will be offering Dining Discovery events that should be on every foodie’s bucket list this summer. Between dining at Needles Lodge for Mountain Top Brunch, a Soirée to kick off your summer and camping under the stars for John Paul Campout, there is something for everyone. Pick your favorites and make your reservations now, the Dining Discovery events tend to sell out and you won’t want to miss them this summer. 

June 17: Summer Soirée

The Summer Opening Soirée will be a smorgasbord for the senses that will capture some of the best of Snowbasin Resort dining in a very socially engaging atmosphere. The culinary team will take you and your tasting spectrum through a labyrinth of flavors touching on: Sweet, Sour, Spicy, Bitter, Umami, and Salty while indulging on Moët champagne to enhance the flavors and cleanse the palate.

June 25 – October 8: Mountain Top Brunch

What better way to start your Sunday morning than a beautiful gondola ride through the high alpine to the majestic Needles Lodge where incredible cuisine awaits. Snowbasin’s culinary team provides only the freshest local ingredients made ready through their community supported agriculture partnership with valley grown Sandhill Farms as well as Borski Farms in Layton. Each week the menu is adjusted slightly to make way for the very freshest ingredients and the chef’s creative inspirations.

July 14: John Paul Campout

Take the John Paul Express Chair up the mountain and explore the geological remnants of an ancient ocean floor while enjoying the majestic view at 9,000 feet. The event will go overnight, where guests will be able to set up camp either inside or outside the John Paul Lodge. Appetizers, education, libations, campfire, dinner, cowboy yodelers, storytellers, and live guitar music will occupy the evening. A hearty breakfast will be served in the morning before heading back down the mountain. Dinner will be prepared over an ‘open fire’ with Dutch ovens. The event includes all food, beverage, and transportation up the mountain. This is a Dining Discovery Culinary Expedition experience of a lifetime.

July 29: Traditional ‘Country Italian’ Dinner

Get whisked away by the Gondola to Needles Lodge and celebrate the summer as well as its relaxing and rustic characteristics that can only be experienced with a true ‘country Italian’ dinner served family- style. The food will all be traditionally prepared in the spirit of ‘slow cuisine’ – where dinner preparation begins the day before or the morning of. The chefs will talk to the guests between each course and there will be live entertainment.

August 25: Cajun Crawfish Boil

Family backyard style Crawfish Boil with shrimp, Andouille sausage, potatoes, corn-on-the-cob, creole dishes, and incredible desserts. Featured beverages include hurricanes’ and ‘hand-grenades’. A traditional ‘Dixie Land Jazz Band’ will provide the entertainment. The seafood will be literally poured out onto the table while other dishes will be available in the dining room for guests to help themselves to.

September 22: Farm to Table Dinner

Explore the bounty of all Utah local items in a highly creative 5-course dinner. This dining event has been the talk of the town for the last four summers. Talk to the local purveyors, artisans, and farmers as well as the chefs. Also, visit with our community supported agriculture partners like Sandhill Farms and Borski Farms. This culinary event is the cornerstone of the Dining Discovery dinners and showcases some of our best at Snowbasin Resort.
