Yeti’s Make Their Way to the 3rd Annual Wasatch Yeti Bash

January 22 2018

Ogden, Utah (January 2018) – If you have been searching for the mysterious yeti you won’t have to look much longer! Yetis will make their way to the 3rd annual Wasatch Yeti Bash at the Ogden Union Station on Friday, February 2. They will be gathered at the bash from 4-8 pm to enjoy an Interactive Winter Arts Market, Community Bike Ride, Fat Bike Demos, Yeti Yoga, Live Entertainment, S’mores and a Beer Garden presented by Wasatch Distributing. This annual gathering is free and open to the public. New this year, organizers are adding a Beard and Moustache Competition presented by State Farm agents Kallee Genta and Jay Carnahan.

“The Yeti scene is growing here in Ogden,” said Sydnie Furton, with Visit Ogden. “This last year they have been seen throwing axes at Social Axe, riding fat bikes up in Ogden Valley and ordering a few brews at Roosters Brewing Co. They seem to be making themselves at home here in our community.”

The free event will begin at 4:00 pm with the opening of the Interactive Winter Arts Market. Off-beat artists and vendors will be hosting family-friendly interactive booths and exhibits where attendees of all ages can create their very own art pieces. In addition to the Interactive Art Market, a DJ will be on site keeping the vibes groovy, there will be live entertainment and yeti sightings throughout downtown Ogden.

Put down your razors, new this year, is a Yeti Beard and Moustache Competition presented by State Farm agents Kallee Genta and Jay Carnahan. Men, women, children and Yetis can compete in several categories including best mustache, business beard, natural medium and long beard, and the false sighting which includes best decorated beards as well as a women and children division. Paul Mitchell Hair School will be on site offering competitors and spectators beard trims and glitter beards. Salty Saints will be available for beard coaching to those who are looking for some advice on how to grow the best beard year-round, it’s $5 to participate and the event will start at 6:30 pm.

“We’ve teamed up with Social Axe Throwing, Moore’s Barber Shop, Paul Mitchell, and Rune Beard Oil Company to create the ultimate prize package for the winners of the Yeti Beard and Mustache Competition,” stated Furton. “Former World Beard Champion, Nic Mahoskey will emcee the event, scores will be tallied, and winners will podium, this will be a fun event to watch during the Yeti Bash.”

In addition to the bash, the public might find Yetis exploring art galleries during the First Friday Art Stroll and even a few taking over the bars and restaurants, so keep your eye out for these snow-loving beasts.

Fat bike racers, spectators and Yetis can also look forward to the Sweaty Yeti Fat Bike Race and Festival taking place on Saturday, February 3, 10-2 pm at Wolf Creek Resort in Eden, Utah. Festival activities include a snow sports expo, free fat bike demos, kids zone, sledding hill, beer and food trucks and a DJ. There is plenty of free parking at the venue and a variety of attractions in the Ogden area for those extending their stay.

Those attending either event are encouraged to dress up as Yetis or other mythical creatures. For more information about the Wasatch Yeti Bash or the Sweaty Yeti Fat Bike Race and Festival go to www.yetibash.com.
