I'll admit, as much as I'll be ready for ski season to be here when it finally arrives (and it always does), I'm currently enjoying the sunny October weather to get in the last singletrack mountain bike rides of the year and make some serious ski season preparations, like getting my Powder Playlist put together. I also have to admit that I don't listen to a whole lot of "new" music. So I tend to get caught in a rut, or a groove. Depending on how you look at it.
My definition of new music are albums from old bands that I missed in my youth (like Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath), or new bands made up of old artists (might I suggest Chickenfoot with Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani and Michael Anthony). Spotify has helped expose me to some tracks I wouldn't normally ever stumble upon, take for example a band called Frightened Rabbit (saw them on Grizzly Adam's playlist).
Here's where you come in: I've listed the first 9 songs of my GSOE 2011 playlist. That's Greatest Snow On Earth®, but you knew that. Help me fill it up, and tell me what you are listening to? I can't promise I'll abandon my metal tendencies, but I'll at least give what you add here in the comments an honest listen.

2. Couer d'Alene by Alter Bridge (epic guitar work by Mark Tremonti)
3. 2,000 Man by Kiss (yeah, it's a remake of The Rolling Stones)
4. Groove Machine by King's X (best band you've never listened to)
5. Still of the Night (Live) by John Sykes (better than the album version, IMHO)
6. Better Off by Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl's 2nd appearance on this list)
7. Up Next by Chickenfoot (No Van Hagar jokes until you listen to it)
8. Not Miserable by Frightened Rabbit (might be an odd fit, but I like it)
9. Neon Knights by Black Sabbath (I'm revisiting the Ronnie James Dio years)

I am old enough to rememebr the originals but always looking for some good tunes to rock me down the head wall. Add Mountain Man by Crash Kings to the list - good rock vocals and guitars but not an old song.
