There's nothing more exciting than the anticipation of college. Many high school seniors decide to attend their parent's alma mater, others may follow a scholarship, some might attend the obvious state school, however, the clairvoyant college hopefuls will pursue an institution of higher education based on proximity to snow. Utah schools can guarantee that the proximity to shred is so convenient that an epic powder day in the morning won’t even require having to miss class that same afternoon. In a nutshell, world-class snow and a world-class education can coexist pursuing a college diploma in Utah.
Recently, the University of Utah and Westminister College were singled out nationally as top ski schools. ESPN ranked the University of Utah #1 as the best college for skiers in the U.S. The Huffington Post felt that many great ski-centric colleges were overlooked by ESPN. Westminster college, in Salt Lake City, graced the list compiled by the Huffington Posts article on Ski Colleges Above and Below the Radar. The proof is in the pudding, as more than 70 pro skiers, snowboarders, and Olympians call Westminster home. The University of Utah owns 12 NCAA skiing championships. In the freeski scene, current U student, Tom Wallisch, is the Winter X Games gold medalist, Dew Tour cup champion and 2011 Freeskier skier of the year.
While Utah has long been respected as one of the planet’s premier ski and snowboard Meccas, it is also undeniable that a great education awaits at the base of Utah’s Wasatch mountains. To all those seniors currently contemplating life for the next four years, consider a college lifestyle at the doorstep of The Greatest Snow on Earth®. Just sayin’.
