Get it while you can! Due to fast quick snow melt, Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort may close their winter operations for the 2009-10 winter season this Sunday, June 13, 2010.
According to Snowbird, high temperatures this week caused surprisingly fast snowmelt on the upper mountain. A few weeks ago skiing through Father's Day seemed like a given. After looking at the mountain this morning, it appears Sunday, June 13, will likely be the last day of skiing and riding at the Bird for the 2009-10 season.
Snowbird will re-evaluate the conditions next week will re-open if it can provide a safe and quality product next weekend. Some snow is in the weekend forecast above 9,500 feet so keep your fingers crossed!
Thanks to Snowbird's mountain crews - Ski Patrol, Cat Crew, Tram and Lifts - for getting the mountain put back together for us this weekend!
