Sundance is beautiful! And quiet/quaint and kid friendly! The backdrop of Mt Timpanogos is like no other. It is a place you can ski, do art and have a spa treatment...all WITH the kids...in one day! There are so many options for families.
Recently, the Ski Utah Yeti went social and asked you to identify your summer alias. The responses varied from commercial fisherman to hang glider pilot to wannabe rock star, however, mountain biker/cyclist won out as the most common summer alias. Good thing there's plenty of biking in Utah.
With Sundance being a great destination tucked up in Provo Canyon...you may never want to leave. So after skiing, eating, soaking up the scenery, what's next? How about the Art Shack and the Spa? You can bring kids as young as 3!
Utah's resorts have plenty of reason to brag in the summer. Hop on your mountain bike and you will see why.
East coaster, Edward Massey, set out to ski every corner of Utah this past January. Read his story as he skied over 367,000 vertical feet over Utah's 14 downhill and 4 nordic resorts.
There are so many choices of ski resorts in Utah. That is what is so special! From the Park City resorts to Ogden Canyon to southern Utah. But, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful is Sundance. There is a reason Robert Redford picked this location. I have to admit, I've not skiied here a lot. I'm also a big hiker and one of the greatest Utah hikes is Mt Timpanogas. It is the face you see at Sundance when you are skiing. Now sure, there are bigger resorts, but if you're looking for a relaxed day of skiing, great food and stunning views...head here.
The snow has arrived in full force and we're looking at a pretty great start to the season and hopefully a good snow year thanks to La Nina. That is a discussion for another blog.
So, we've rented the skis and we're ready to head out. Now, I'm not as mobile as my other fellow bloggers. With my equipment, Emily's, Brennan's and 2 kids in tow....it takes us awhile. The key is to pick a day when everyone is rested and happy....otherwise, you'll be very crabby by the end of the day :)
I thought I'd take Emily first alone. Just to get her "ski legs". What's that? Well, for those of you who have skied before, it is the first day of the season to take it easy and sort of "remember" how to ski. After our very successful season last year with Emily, I thought, no biggie...she's ready to go straight up the lift. NOOOO! Last run of last year was down the tram at Snowbird. For those that haven't skiied much, it is a challenging run for us adults let alone the kids.
Weather permitting, Utah resorts will be opening on the following dates. Right now we've got a great start on snowfall and more appears to be heading our way. Some Utah resorts have already begun snowmaking operations. Pray for snow!
