Ready for the Luxist's point of view on how to do Park City in the summer? Here is their list - Freestyle skiing at Utah Olympic Park, mountain biking at Deer Valley, and scuba diving at the Homestead Crater.
As the comments suggest, don't forget Park City's Alpine Coaster!
Lamborghini drivers to help underprivileged Utah children at Park City event
Posted by Eric on August 7, 2009
Ready for a little excess? And by a little I mean A LOT. Look no further than Park City today and tomorrow - 2009 Giro Lamborghini. I'm not going to lie- I would love to drive one of these machines. Today is the arrival of around 35 Lambos in Park City.
August 8th the Lamborghini's and their owners will follow police agents escorting less fortunate kids in police cars to the Utah Olympic Sports Park. The kids will take turns riding in the sports cars on fun local roads. And after the ride, they will get to watch the U.S. Aerial Olympic Ski Team's practice at a special viewing.
Event attendees will gather at Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City at 8:30 in the morning before going to the Olympic Sports Park.
"Shop with a Cop" is a non-profit organization made possible by several local law enforcement agencies in Utah to grant the wishes of less fortunate children.
Highlights from last year's event (warning- watch this only if you have a high tolerance for really annoying music):
Will the real Ski Utah Yeti please stand up?
Posted by Eric on August 5, 2009
Believe
it or not, winter is around the corner. In fact, Utah saw its first
snow last year on August 30! To celebrate the approaching winter
season, Ski Utah is kicking off its 90-day countdown to snow with a
“Melting Yeti Contest” at Utah’s Hogle Zoo on Saturday, August 8.
Ski Utah will display a seven-foot-tall ice sculpture of “the yeti” created by Iceworks from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Zoo on Sat., Aug. 8. Zoo-goers will have the opportunity to guess how long the frozen yeti will withstand the sizzling summer heat before melting. The participant who guesses the time the yeti will melt will win two passes to every Utah ski resort, nearly a $2,000 value. Children are also invited to bring their teddy bears to the Ski Utah booth and receive a free season pass for their furry friends.
In addition, Ski Utah will have information on preseason pass sales and discounts enabling local families to enjoy The Greatest Snow on Earth at the most affordable prices possible. Families will also have the chance to learn about the Ski Utah Fifth Grade Passport and Sixth Grade SnowPass, the best ways for fifth and sixth graders to hit the slopes this winter. Through the program, fifth graders can ski three times free at each of Utah’s 13 world-class resorts utilizing the Passport, and sixth graders can enjoy one day of free snowriding at each resort with the SnowPass.
What: Ski Utah Melting Yeti Contest
Where: Utah’s Hogle Zoo (2600 Sunnyside Ave, Salt Lake City, UT)
When: Saturday, August 8, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.
No snow yet - what to do?

Mountain bike! Pretty much every resort I can think of offers mountain biking to satisfy your thirst (or lack thereof) for the mountains. Deer Valley does mountain bikes right. Check out the video and see for yourself. Or better yet jump on a bike and head up yourself. Oh, and don't forget your helmet.

Salt Lake City Chill Benefit Party
Posted by Tim on March 23, 2009
Chill is the program begun by Burton Snowboards to give inner city kids a chance to learn how to snowboard and in-turn enjoy the mountains and nature. I know first hand what a great program this is. I went through it with a great kid from my neighborhood and it was amazing to see how this program broadened their horizons. Here is a video that I shot during last seasons Chill program.
The Chill Program deserves your support so you might as well give them $5 and go to a fun party at the Circle Lounge on March 26th. That way Joe and Nick can keep showing the Chill kids that there's a whole big world out there besides what surrounds them in the city. See you there.
Crater swimming and Sunday brunching at The Homestead Resort - Midway, UT
Posted by Eric on March 23, 2009
A short hop from the Park City area is The Homestead Resort. Located in Midway, UT, the resort in about a 20 minute drive from Park City and is well worth a trip. Midway has a lot of old-world Swiss charm and The Homestead is a picture perfect example of what the town has to offer.
After
a few days of skiing (and a drained hot tub where we were staying), I
was ready for a good soak. We decide to head over to the Crater
for a dip. The water was warm and inviting, allowing us to spend about
an hour soaking up our surroundings. The Crater's water temp was in
the mid-90s helping us to rest the joints and observe those around us
as scuba divers practiced technique in the 55 ft deep swimming hole.
Well worth the trip for anyone interested. But don't forget your
towels like I did. The cold air outside takes some getting used to
from the warm water.
We also decided to check out the Sunday Brunch and weren't disappointed. There was plenty of food to be had and a great variety for everyone. I personally enjoyed the pesto chicken and fresh croissants. The restaurant had a wonderful ambiance with the piano player in the background. Everyone in our party left with a full stomach ready for another day of skiing in Utah.
If you want to find out more about swimming/diving in the Crater or its Sunday Brunch give them a call at 1-888-327-7220.
