Snowbasin Resort to Host 2011-2012 Winter Dew Tour Championships
Fri Feb 10 - Mon Feb 13

The Winter Dew Tour today announced the full schedule for the 2011-12 season. Closing out the season with the Winter Dew Tour Championships, Snowbasin Resort in Ogden, Utah has been chosen as the stage for the final event of the season. Showcasing the world’s top freeski and snowboard athletes competing in slopestyle and superpipe, the event will take place February 9-12, 2012 and will feature the year-ends Awards Ceremony.

Boasting the largest media platform in all of winter action sports, The Winter Dew Tour will be televised live on NBC with additional domestic and international programming reaching more than 200 million households worldwide.

“It is terrific to be selected once again to host the season ending Winter Dew Tour Championship,” said Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission. “Last year’s event drove significant economic impact and brought tremendous international media exposure to Utah. Also, with the 2011 event at Snowbasin setting an all-time Winter Dew Tour attendance record, it highlights that Utah remains a great location to host major sporting events.”

“Snowbasin is excited to welcome the Dew Tour back in February 2012 and showcase our resort to a worldwide audience,” said Kent Lyons, General Manager of Snowbasin. “The opportunity to welcome the best snowboarders and skiers to our resort has proven to be very popular with our guests and we hope to again demonstrate the sports appeal of the Ogden and Northern Utah area to yet another record-setting audience.”

The Winter Dew Tour continues its commitment to progression in winter action sports, featuring premier 22-foot superpipes and the highest level slopestyle courses at each stop. Cornerstone elements including live music and a festival village will remain a mainstay of the Tour. Rising freeski and snowboard stars will also have an opportunity to solidify a regular spot through a qualifying system hosted at the Breckenridge event.

“The Winter Dew Tour continues to be the most successful winter action sports tour by continuing its tradition of setting spectator attendance records, attracting the world’s top competitors and enjoying partnerships with the country’s premier resorts,” said Chris Prybylo, General Manager of the Winter Dew Tour. “A standard of excellence for winter action sports has been set, and we look forward to building upon it during the 2011-12 season.”
