Après Adam here with step 11 of my 12-Step Program for Après-Ski Conditioning. I’m here to help you have the best après-ski season of your life!
This is it. The week we've been waiting for all summer—opening week for skiing in Utah. We've all had November 19th, aka Opening Day in Utah 2016, circled on our calendars for months. Everyone except mother nature, that is.
It was obvious that we needed to take matters into our own hands. Let's take all of that anger we post on Facebook and direct it towards something we can actually change. Let’s get some friends together and make an offering to the Utah snow god, the Yeti.
Shoutout to Colby Angelos of Angelos Media for documenting our Pray For Snow Party
Here are my personal favorites. All of them require costumes. The Yeti love costumes.
The good news is we don't have to do all the heavy lifting ourselves. As I write this, the first waves of winter are starting to reach the Wasatch. What makes skiing in Utah so great is that there's always a chance for storms to overproduce. You see we have this little thing called Lake Effect, and with just the right temperature difference between the atmosphere and the surface temperature of the Great Salt Lake, snowfall can appear out of nowhere, as if magically summoned by the Yeti himself.
And while there’s no “scientific proof” that these rituals work, it can’t hurt to try.
