Finding the Best Ski Deals for Kids

Utah's first snowfall has arrived covering the gold and red leaves in white, which means ski season is almost here! 

Below you'll find a list of some of the best pass deals for kids that you won't want to miss.

Ski Utah's 5th and 6th Passport Program: 5th graders receive three days FREE at each of Utah's 15 resorts and 6th graders receive one day FREE at each of Utah's 15 resorts. AND, it is open to ALL visitors, not just Utah residents. The program is completely digital but plan ahead as it can take up to 24 hours for approval.

January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month: This program is designed to get new skiers and snowboarders out on the slope no matter the age. Each resort has its own offerings of lesson/rentals and passes. Plan ahead and don't miss these January opportunities.

Yeti Pass:  This is a limited quantity pass which allows you to ski one day at each of Utah's 15 resorts. It is a great idea to buy this to go along with your kiddos in the Passport Program. Another great reason to get this; if you've wanted to buy a season pass at a resort but aren't quite sure which one, it gives you a chance to give them all a try before making the big commitment. 

Here is a list by resort:

Alta: Children 6 and under get a FREE unlimited season ski pass when purchasing a family pass and only $25 with the purchase of one adult season pass. If your family is just learning and not sure about buying a full day pass, you can Ski at 3 pm on Cecret and Albion lifts for just $10. Or you can purchase a "Ski at 3 pm season pass" for $25 for an Adult or Child. Kids a bit older? Sign them up for the Advanced Mountain Explorer or Teen Camp. Don't forget to add the child Mountain Collective Pass to your adult pass for only $99  for kids 12 and under.

Beaver Mountain: Small and unique in northern Utah. Kids five and under ski FREE with the purchase of an adult season pass. There are also discounts at many local businesses when showing your season pass. Additionally, the learn to turn program rewards new skiers and riders with a "Little Beaver" season pass after a series of three lessons! 

Brian Head: Located in Southern Utah, it is just as close to Las Vegas as Salt Lake City. So if visiting in Vegas, pop up to Brian Head for a couple of days and enjoy the slopes and scenery. Brian Head University has a deal you can't pass up. Purchase a three lesson program for first-timers, once they complete the program, participants receive a free season pass for the remainder of the season and 50% off the following year. Kiddos five and under ski FREE with a paying adult. 

Brighton: Brighton offers  kids 10 and under FREE with a paying adult. What! No excuses this year mom and dad, you've got to dust off your old gear and get out. Night skiing is also an option with discounted tickets and you pretty much have the slopes to yourself.

Deer Valley Resort: There are endless opportunities for family fun at Deer Valley! Book a winter lodging package that gives kids 12 and under a chance to ski FREE with a paying adult! Check the link for dates included. If you are just learning and don't want to ski the whole mountain, you can purchase a beginner pass which keeps you near the bottom on nice, gentle terrain to get your confidence up before heading up high. Additionally, the lessons and childcare are top notch and a guarantee to be a great day for you and the kids.

Eagle Point: Another resort in southern Utah that is close to Utah's red rock country. Offering Ski-in/ski-out lodging packages starting at $79 AND children six and under ski/ride for FREE!

Nordic Valley: A great family resort located outside of Ogden has 100% of its mountain open for both day and night skiing. Most importantly, children seven and under ski FREE! 

Park City Mountain: America's largest resort with 7,300 skiable acres!!  There are many options when shopping for season passes. Depending on if you are just skiing at Park City or you would like to use your pass at many other resorts across the country, the Epic Pass offers up the best option for families to get the most terrain under you feet all season. The Epic School Kids pass is an amazing pass that offers Utah kids five FREE days of skiing/boarding K-5th grade. Applications for this program close on October 8. This offer is no longer available, however, if your student is in 5th or 6th grade, check out the Ski Utah Passport. New for the 2018-19 season, Park City Mountain will open High Meadow Park, a new learning area designed exclusively for beginner skiers. Accessible via the Red Pine Gondola at Canyons Village, High Meadow Park will feature a new express lift and a variety of dedicated beginner terrain options perfect for kids and families to explore together.

Powder Mountain: Powder Mountain is a one of a kind resort that prides itself on skier experience, snowcat adventures and fun for the whole family. Powder Mountain's Powder Club and Powder Tykes programs offer great instruction to get your kids started on the mountain. For guests 13 and older, Powder Mountain offers inciteful lessons for first-time skiers and snowboarders. Kids six years and younger ski/ride free with a paying adult. 

Snowbasin Resort: Beautiful scenery, great lodges, awesome bathrooms and long runs...what more could you want? The Riglet Park is one of our favorites which leads into the Terrain Based Learning. Learn and Earn is also a great learning program which includes three lessons, SEASON rentals and lift tickets for one price. Once you "graduate" you earn a season pass! With season passes, you will also get ski days at other resorts in the US and discounts on lodging.

Snowbird: With tons of vertical and one of Utah's longest seasons, Snowbird can't be beat! The freshly renovated Creekside Lodge will open at the start of the season serving up more dining options, hosting the Mountain School and much more. Kids six and under ski/ride free. And if you plan quickly, there are great deals on lodging and lift tickets.

Solitude: With updated dining options and a one-of-a-kind winter experience, Solitude has many youth programs to keep your kids busy all winter long. Best part? Kids under four are FREE with a paying adult!

Sundance: The views and delicious dining options at Sundance never get old. Kids under six ski/ride FREE with a paying adult. For only $142, you can take a family of four night skiing.
