BCC FLEA MARKET
On Sundays from 10-5 PM running June through September, Big Cottonwood Canyon offers a refuge from the heat and a treasure trove of surprising flea market finds. Discover an eclectic array of vendors in the Brighton parking lot with a mix of musical acts, art, vintage goods, secondhand treasures, nostalgia and cool mountain air.
PARK SILLY SUNDAY MARKET
A Sunday staple for over 15 years, the Park Silly Sunday Market is an open air street festival hosted on Park City’s picturesque Main Street. With a focus on sustainability and inclusivity, you’ll find local and regional produce, art, street performers, activities for kids, music and a handful of nonprofit orgs and programs. Learn about and support local causes while also discovering tips on sustainability and zero waste when you visit this market.
THE MAKERS HIVE MARKET
The Makers Hive was founded in 2020 by two Women of Color who were small business owners. Their idea was to support like-minded entrepreneurs by fostering community and providing a space for their businesses to grow and flourish. The market rotates between various locations in Utah and California, so be sure to check their schedule and mark your calendar for a shot at stumbling upon undiscovered handmade goods.
CRAFT LAKE CITY
An annual showcase every August, Craft Lake City’s DIY Fest is a festival for Utah’s maker scene with science, technology and art. Discover whimsical art, good food, music and nonstop fun at Utah’s State Fair Park in Utah’s largest artist showcase. The 2022 DIY Fest will run August 12–14. With over 350 local artists, vintage slingers, foodies and STEM exhibitions, this fair has something for everyone. Note that there is an entry fee that supports this nonprofit organization and the immense amount of effort it takes to pull off such a large festival.
DOWNTOWN FARMERS MARKET
A Salt Lake City institution, the Salt Lake City Downtown Farmers Market is the spot to gather fresh, seasonal produce. Since 1992, Utah’s largest produce market has served as a place for the community to gather and connect with local and regional growers. Don’t forget your reusable shopping bags and head there early for the best selection. Markets run Thursday evenings at Liberty Park and Saturday mornings at Pioneer Park. WHEELER FARM SUNDAY MARKET
Kids love the experience of visiting the historic Wheeler Farm in Murray. Founded in 2011, a variety of vendors offer handmade food, goods and art each Sunday in the summer months. Visit farm creatures, grab some food and enjoy the sights and smells.
NEIGHBORHOOD HIVE
Located in Sugarhouse at 2065 E 2100 S, the Neighborhood Hive is a shop founded by creators for local makers. It’s a place where locals can share their products and their passion and it’s an incredible place to shop for thoughtful gifts. Walk around the shop and visit individual pop-up shops from a host of local foodies, artists, metalsmiths and more.
MAIN STREET OPEN STREETS
Saddle up and visit Main Street in Salt Lake City for a fun open-air market from South Temple to 400 South where vehicular traffic is blocked and pedestrians are free to wander the streets. Local restaurants extend their patios for outdoor dining, buskers and actors offer live performances and pop-up shops and artists will welcome those who wander the streets. Open Streets runs 6-10 PM on Friday and Saturday and from 11 AM to 3 PM on Sundays throughout the summer.
GRANARY DISTRICT’S LITTLE CITY
Debuting a new space at 349 West and 700 South, the Granary District’s Little City is back and serving as a colorful hub for fostering community connections. Events are oriented to promote access by walking, cycling or public transit and create a public space for people to come together. INTERNATIONAL MARKET
Each summer month on select Saturdays the Utah State Fair Park will host an International Market replete with food from a variety of cultures and cuisines, art, entertainment and an international beer garden. In a celebration of Utah’s multiculturalism, this community hub supports small businesses while also directly creating opportunities for migrant and refugee entrepreneurs. The International Market is conveniently located near downtown and a TRAX station. Admission is free and you can visit the website for market dates.
SALT & HONEY MARKET
This woman-owned business offers three locations to shop and support dynamic and creative local makers. The shops often provide a launching space for artists to test the waters before they grow and expand. It’s exciting to see what’s new with their ever-rotating cast of art, jewelry, paper products, kiddo stuff, vintage collectibles, soap, skincare products, charms, clothing, knickknacks and more.
