We waited, then we waited some more—but now we wait no more. The mountains turned to winter overnight, with up to 54'' of snow falling in a 48 hour window earlier this week at Eagle Point. The rest of the state scored anywhere from 1-3 feet of snow. With this very welcomed dump of The Greatest Snow on Earth, resorts have stepped into high gear, firing up snowcats, biceps needed for shoveling and coffee—as a new resort is opening almost daily.
Bases are quickly building and the 2016-17 winter is kicking off with epic conditions. Here's a peek at conditions from each of our 14 resorts as well as a list of upcoming resort openings.
Beaver Mountain - We can't wait to #SkiTheBeav this winter. Opening day TBD.
Brian Head - Open! and loving every minute of the season so far.
Brighton - Open! While a couple of lifts are spinning, much of the resort still needs to be dug out. Not a bad problem to have.
Cherry Peak - Opening date TBD for their second season ever. Beautiful lodge with 100% of their terrain open for night skiing.
Deer Valley Resort - Opens Saturday, December 3rd. Everyone loves the one, two punch of snowmaking while the snow falls.
Eagle Point - All eyes are on Eagle Point right now, who was the state's biggest winner with 54" falling in the last 48 hours. We can't make this stuff up people. Set to open December 17th.
Nordic Valley - Opens December 10th. The cat drivers are putting down first tracks.
Park City Mountain - Open! Rookie avalanche dog doing a little product testing.
Snowbasin Resort - While opening day is TBD it won't be long now that the moose is sporting his winter coat.
Snowbird - Open!
Solitude Mountain Resort - Opens this Friday, December 2nd. We can only imagine how good opening day is going to be with feet of untracked just waiting. Mmmmm.
Sundance Mountain Resort - Opens December 9th. This might be the picture for "winter" that shows up in the dictionary. Do people still use dictionaries?
