Vertfest, the Wasatch Powder Keg, Outdoor Research, and the Utah Avalanche Center are teaming up to bring Vertfest to Utah on March 8 & 9, 2014! Vertfest began in the Cascade Mountains of Washington 7 years ago with the support of Outdoor Research and has growing to a 3-event tour this year, coming to Alpental, Washington, Mt. Bachelor, Oregon, and Brighton, Utah.
The Brighton Vertfest will be held in partnership with the 12th annual Wasatch Powder Keg, a 3 day ski mountaineering competition sanctioned by the International Ski Mountaineering Federation and the 2014 North American Ski Mountaineering Championship.
• 2 days of free gear demos
• Half- and full-day clinics on topics such as steep skiing, splitboarding, efficient backcountry travel techniques, mountaineering skills for backcountry riders, ski photography, and avalanche travel and rescue skills.
• A Saturday afternoon party featuring a live band and a raffle for donated gear
• The Wasatch Powderkeg Ski Mountaineering race Last winter, over 400 people registered for the Alpental weekend events and the Wasatch Powderkeg drew 220 competitors. Vertfest is open to the public and draws in regular skier/rider traffic and those coming just for the equipment demos. This is a fundraising event and all proceeds benefit the Utah Avalanche Center.
