√ Snowbird Departure

January 25 2022 - 8:15 AM - 4:00 PM

you have selected: Snowbird Departure

*Operational Status*
A tour's operational status can not be confirmed until 4-6pm the day prior to your reservation date.

A typical Snowbird Departure meets at 8:15 A.M. at either the Creekside Building, parking at entrance #1 OR on the Tram Plaza, entrance #2 (please confirm with your guide - Snowbird Village Map).  Once you have arrived your guides will check you in, and outfit you with a Gold Pass and an avalanche beacon. From there it's time to click-in and head to the top of Snowbird.

Once on-top of Hidden Peak you'll spin a lap in Mineral Basin, or possibly hike out onto Mount Baldy before working your way on over to Alta (don't worry we'll finish the day at Snowbird with more skiing)

Chris Peters Pointing Out the Terrain

After you enter the gates into Alta the you will make your way to the top of the Supreme chair. From there you'll have your first good sidestep/shuffle/traverse through Catherine's Pass, enroute to your first backcountry zone of the day, Rocky Point. This backcountry area offers several spectacular descents into the base of Brighton Ski Resort and is some of the more phisically demanding terrain you'll explore.

After a run or two at Brighton, you'll take the lower SolBright trail to Solitude Mountain Resort where you'll stop for lunch and a well-earned break.

Susie and Hailey Hiking across the HIgway To Heaven Picture

After lunch it's up to the top of Solitude Resort aboard the Summit chair. Upon unloading, guides will check-in with Solitude Patrol beforing heading towards the dramatic 500-yard traverse, sidestepping across the "Highway to Heaven" and into Little Cottonwood Canyon via Twin Lakes Pass. Another long backcountry descent puts you at the Albion Basin area at Alta Ski Area. From there you'll work your way to the top of the Sugarloaf chair, then pass through the Mineral Basin gate and, voila, you're back at Snowbird.

And as mentioned early, there's still plenty of great skiing as you make your way to the bottom of Mineral Basin, up the Mineral Basin Express to the top of Snowbird's Hidden Peak, leaving you with a 3,000' descent to finish off the day back at the Creekside Building, where you departed from.
