Your tour's operational status can not be confirmed until 4-6 PM the day prior to your reservation date.
A typical Snowbird Departure meets at 8:30 AM on the Tram Plaza, entrance #2 - Snowbird Village Map). You for your guide on the plaza, just past the ticket windows near the ski racks. After introductions and a brief check-in, your guide will assing you a Gold Pass. Once ready you'll load a pre-public tram and head 3,000 ft up to the top of Hidden Peak and gather inside the Hidden Peak Lodge for the morning briefing. During that time you can expect to learn about the day ahead, disucssing weather expections, routes, avalanche conditions and backcountry etiquette. Before heading outside you will be outfitted with a an avalanche transceiver along with a brief overview of how to operate the avalanche beacon.
Your morning on skis will start off by spin a lap or two in Mineral Basin while we evaluate ski conditions. Pending conditions and the group, it's possible to kick off the morning with rdige hike up Mount Baldy while working your into Alta.
After you enter into Alta, you will make your way to the top of the Supreme chair. From there, you'll have your first good sidestep/shuffle/traverse through Catherine's Pass, enroute to your first backcountry zone of the day, Rocky Point. This backcountry area offers several spectacular descents as you work your way down towards the base of Brighton Resort. This will be some of the more physically demanding terrain you'll explore during the day. The terrain will be hovering between the 10,500' and 9,000' mark and there will be a few good sessions of bootpacking and sidestepping as you make your way towards Brighton.
Once at Brighton the group may be presented with a few terrain options, pending snow conditions and timing. From Brighton you will return to Solitude by way of lower SolBright where a well-earned lunch break is waiting. (Lunch is included in with your reservation)
After lunch it's up to the top of Solitude Resort aboard the Summit chair. Upon unloading guides will check-in with Solitude Ski Patrol beforing heading towards a dramatic out-of-bounds traverse, sidestepping across the "Highway to Heaven" as you make yourway to the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon, referred to as Twin Lakes Pass. Another long backcountry descent puts you at the upper base of Alta Ski Area. From there you'll work your way to the top of the Sugarloaf chair, then pass through the Mineral Basin gate and, voila, you're at Snowbird, the final resort of the day.
But don't worry, there's still plenty of great skiing as you make your way to the bottom of Mineral Basin, up the Mineral Basin Express chairlift that drops you off at 11,000' atop Snowbird's Hidden Peak. This leaves you with sevearl decent options, all of which consist of a 3,000' descent to the base of Snowbird.
After a few high-5's you can finally relax. Congratulations! You've completed the Interconnect Tour. Your car is just a short shuffle away. Before departing don't forget to swap pictures and thank your guides. (guide gratuity is not included or requried, but very appreciated)
