Another ski season marks another year of sustainability progress for Alta Ski Area. The 2016 Sustainability Report Update takes tally of energy savings and carbon reduction efforts in support of the ski area’s 20% greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goal with the National Ski Areas Association Climate Challenge program.

Considered one of the most unique parades in the country, over 1,000 head of sheep will follow the historic Livestock Trail from Cedar Mountain, down Cedar City’s Main Street, to their winter home in the Cedar Valley. The Sheep Parade is the highlight event for the 11th Annual Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival, an annual celebration of southern Utah’s agricultural traditions and lifestyle.

Alta skiing is legendary, and skiers who want to improve their skiing skills come to Alta Lodge for the Ski Adventures programs through Alta’s Alf Engen Ski School. These immersion programs are a multi-day ski experience with instructors who spend the day with participants in the mountains and then join them for après ski and dinner.
