Aron Ralston Headlines Snowbird's Summit Gala Fundraiser - November 22, 2013

November 22 2013

SNOWBIRD, UT – Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort will host its annual Summit Gala on Dec. 28, featuring a celebratory evening of dining, dancing, live and silent auctions and special guest Aron Ralston, an American outdoorsman, engineer and motivational speaker.

Proceeds will support Wasatch Adaptive Sports, Snowbird Sports Education Foundation, Cottonwood Canyons Foundation and the Wasatch Legacy Project.

“We appreciate the generosity of the community in supporting these wonderful Little Cottonwood Canyon non-profits,” said Bob Bonar, President of Snowbird. “We hope you’ll join us for fabulous food, live music and to be inspired by this year’s speaker, Aron Ralston.”

Ralston is widely known for surviving a canyoneering accident in a remote area of Utah’s canyon country in 2003. Ralston accidentally dislodged a boulder that crushed and pinned his right hand. After six days of entrapment alone, he freed himself with a cheap multi-tool knife and hiked to a miraculous rescue.

Live auction items include snowcat skiing at Snowbird, heli-skiing in the Ruby Mountains, refurbished chairs from the original Gad 1 chairlift, and sections of the Aerial Tram haul rope. Silent auction items include ski and snowboard gear, dinners, lodging accommodations, artwork and more.
