High West Named One of "World's Best Aprés Ski Scenes" - November 26, 2013

The distillery and saloon was one of only seven destinations to be recognized by JetSetter.com, and one of just two from the United States.

PARK CITY, Utah (Nov. 26, 2013) — High West Distillery & Saloon, Utah’s first legal distillery since 1870, was named one of the “World’s Best Après-Ski Scenes” by the travel service and magazine Jet Setter.

The distillery and saloon, which was awarded a James Beard award in February and remains the planet’s only ski-in gastro-distillery, was one of just seven destinations to earn the recognition, and one of only two from the United States.

Jet Setter hailed High West for its gourmet food and drinks, and its distinct location in a 100-year-old former livery stable in the heart of Park City’s downtown district.

“You can still drink like a prospector,” the magazine said, citing the wood-paneled walls and award-winning craft whiskeys such as Campfire, American Prairie Reserve and Rendezvous Rye. But in sidling up to the bar “made of reclaimed wood from the Great Salt Lake Trestle Bridge of 1904,” diners can also enjoy items “those miners of yore could never have dreamed up: James Beard award-winning pub fare like whiskey cider braised short ribs and pan-seared Utah trout with a roasted cherry and caper berry sauce.”

“Apres ski is truly one of life’s pleasures and we are so proud to be included on a list of such esteemed places,” High West proprietor David Perkins said. “We’re just following our passion to make great food and whiskey with care and craftsmanship. The fact that we get to share our joy with guests is icing on the cake.”
