Park City Mountain Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary Saturday, December 21 - December 18, 2013

  • PCMR observes its anniversary 50 years to the day after its original opening in 1963
  • Celebration runs the entire day and includes guest remarks, a free concert and fireworks display
  • Special giveaways throughout the day include commemorative t-shirts, socks, hats, coffee mugs and more

Park City, Utah (December 18, 2013) – Park City Mountain Resort celebrates its 50th anniversary this Saturday, December 21 – 50 years to the day since it opened in 1963 – with a day-long celebration half a century in the making.

A full program of events includes a ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony and guest remarks, live music, DJ’s in the resort base area, birthday cupcakes, a free concert by Robert Randolph and the Family Band and a fireworks display.

Special golden anniversary giveaways will pop up around the mountain throughout the day with souvenirs including commemorative “50th” t-shirts, socks, hats, coffee mugs and more.

 

“It’s been a special privilege for all of us at Park City Mountain Resort to share 50 incredible years with our guests, local residents, neighbors and the town of Park City,” said Jenni Smith, president and general manager of Park City Mountain Resort. “We’re excited to celebrate half a century of skiing and snowboarding, this Saturday and all season long, with all of our guests whether they’ve been with us for the whole ride or are visiting for the first time.”

50th Anniversary Program:
8:45 a.m. – Opening Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony (scheduled speakers include: Powdr Corp CEO John Cumming, Utah Office of Tourism’s Outdoor Recreation Director Brad Petersen, Park City Mayor Dana Williams and Mayor-elect Jack Thomas)
9:00 a.m. – Lifts open to public
12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. – Live music by Joy & Eric in PayDay Room, 2nd floor of Legacy Lodge
12:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. – DJ’s at two base area locations (Resort Plaza and The Shack’s deck)
3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. – Robert Randolph and the Family Band perform in resort plaza
5:15 p.m.-5:30 p.m. – 50th anniversary fireworks display
