PRO SKIERS TO BREAK WORLD RECORD WITH AUTOGRAPH SIGNING EVENT

SNOWBIRD, UT – What started out as an idea to bring professional skiers to ski with Snowbird guests, has grown so large, the creators of the event decided to register it with the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest autograph signing by professional athletes.

“The best skiers and snowboarders in the world come to Snowbird, and we’re honored to make history with their visit this season,” said Dave Fields, Vice President of Resort Operations.

The event is part of POWDER magazine’s annual video awards celebration. Ski companies will hand out prizes on the Plaza Deck and two DJs will be providing music as part of the festivities on Saturday from noon until 4 p.m.

According to Guinness World Records, the record for the largest autograph signing by professional athletes is 18 and was achieved by Samsung Electronics and Circuit City as part of the ''HD Hero Days'' Campaign, in Las Vegas on Jan. 10, 2008.

Every half hour from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, a group of professional skiers will join Snowbird guests to ski a lap from the Aerial Tram at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort. The professional skiers will then sign posters on the Plaza Deck (Snowbird Center, Level 2) from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Professional skiers participating in the event include Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Daron Rahlves, Todd Ligare, Caroline Gleich, Julian Carr, Parker Cook, Rachael Burks, Tim Durtschi, Chris Benchetler and more.
