Deer Valley Resort's 40th Winter Season Begins Saturday, December 5th

December 3 2020

Deer Valley Resort; Park City, UT (December 3, 2020) — Recently voted the Best Ski Resort in North America in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2020 Reader’s Choice Awards, Deer Valley Resort welcomes guests back to the slopes on Saturday, December 5th. The resort is expecting to open with 18 runs and 14 lifts and has several new precautions and protocols in place to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, while maintaining their continuous dedication to providing an exceptional guest service experience.

“We look forward to inviting our guests back to the resort for the 2020-21 season,” said Jeremy Levitt, Deer Valley Resort President. “Since closing early last spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our team has been busy developing operating plans that accommodate for reduced capacities, physical distancing, and mask wearing for staff and guests. These plans place the health, safety and well-being of our guests, staff, and community at the forefront of our efforts. We are dedicated to providing the Deer Valley Experience that our guests know and love.”

Like every winter, the snow will still fall, and the lifts will still turn. This year we have implemented new safety measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Masks or face coverings are required when waiting in line, interacting with Deer Valley staff, riding, loading and unloading chairlifts, in outdoor common areas when physical distancing is not possible, and at all times indoors, unless the guest is actively eating or drinking. No overnight storage of equipment will be offered this year besides skis and poles, and physical distancing measures will be in place when on and waiting in line for chairlifts. Additionally, guests are discouraged from visiting if they are feeling ill or experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19 or any other contagious illness. Guests are expected to follow all standards issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)Utah Department of Health, and the Summit County Health Department. Beyond opening weekend, return to the slopes on Saturday, December 12 for Deer Valley’s annual Shred for Red event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This one-day event aims to spread awareness and raise funds to eradicate blood cancers. Each participant who raises more than $300 will enjoy an incredible day on the slopes. Included will be a full-day lift ticket to Deer Valley Resort, on-mountain challenges and activities, a Shred for Red participant bib, the opportunity to ski and take photos with past and current Winter Olympians, as well as access to Deer Valley’s exclusive virtual après-ski reception. This experience is family-friendly and open to skiers of all abilities, or guests can join in on the event virtually. All proceeds will benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
