Ride Snowbird Tram Free with Utah Food Bank Donation

September 28 2015

SNOWBIRD, UT – Continuing its tradition of providing free Aerial Tram rides while helping Utah’s hungry, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort announces dates for the annual Customer Appreciation Days Event. On Oct. 15, 16, 17 and 18 guests may receive a free foot passenger Tram ride with the donation of 3 cans of food, hygiene items to the Utah Food Bank, or a $6 donation to Wasatch Adaptive Sports.

“Utah Food Bank is incredibly grateful for the long-standing tradition of Snowbird giving back to the community as a part of thanking their loyal customers,” said Ginette Bott, Utah Food Bank Chief Development Officer. “Over the years this partnership has resulted in donating the equivalent of over 31,000 meals for Utahns facing hunger, and we look forward to continuing this important annual tradition into the future.”

Last year 7,618 pounds of food was donated to the Utah Food Bank as a result of the annual Customer Appreciation Days. That amount equated to an astonishing 6,348 meals distributed by the Utah Food Bank. Food donation totals were up 10 percent from the Customer Appreciation event in 2013. In addition $4,048 was raised for Wasatch Adaptive Sports.

To take advantage of the offer, guests may either bring three cans of food, a hygiene item, or $6, to Snowbird from Oct. 15 until Oct. 18 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., weather permitting. Please check snowbird.com for updates on the schedule of operations.

Despite relative unemployment in Utah a large audience is still left behind in the economic recovery. The Utah Food Bank estimates that one out of five Utah children do not know where their next meal is coming from. As we draw nearer to the holiday season, food donations will hit a critical point for The Utah Food Bank.

The Utah Food Bank has a “Big 5” list of highly sought donations. Protein, in the form of peanut butter, canned meat such as tuna or beef stew, boxed cereal items, paper products in the category of towels and detergents, and finally boxed meals including macaroni and cheese, and Hamburger Helper. Snowbird encourages all those who attend the 2015 Customer Appreciation Days to donate items from this list.

During Customer Appreciation Days, Adult All Day Activities Passes cost $25, Children under 42” cost $20, which grant access to the Aerial Tram, Mountain Coaster, Two-Station Bungee Trampoline, and one Kid’s Inflatable.

Offering the longest ski season out of any resort in Utah, Snowbird is scheduled to open for the 2015-2016 season Saturday, Nov. 21, weather permitting. Season passes are now on sale at snowbird.com.

Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort is investing $35 million into new capital improvements for the 2015/16 season. These projects include The Summit at Snowbird, an extensive remodel of The Cliff Lodge, a new RFID ticket system and increased snowmaking capabilities.
