Park City Institute and Strategic News Service Present Founder and CEO of Strategic News Service and Chair of the Future in Review Conferences - Mark Anderson - “Ideas into Actions: Technology Breakthroughs, Great Futures”

November 12 2015

PARK CITY, UT – Engage in the future – now. The 2015-2016 Park City Institute / Strategic News Service “Future in Review” Speaker Series re-enters the global discussion with the man FORTUNE named one of the “100 Smartest People We Know.” Strategic News Service (SNS) founder Mark Anderson sets the tone for the third annual series with a talk grounded in his unique grasp of technology, the economy, education, science and international business on Friday, November 20. The evening, “Ideas into Actions: Technology Breakthroughs, Great Futures,” takes place in the intimate Black Box Theater of Park City’s Eccles Center; 7:30p.m. Tickets are $25.

“We are honored that Mark Anderson will once again spark meaningful discussion with an eye-opening and positive presentation,” says PCI executive director Teri Orr. “He is a brilliant thinker – and doer – whose deep and broad knowledge of a vast array of fields propels us not merely to discuss the issues of the future, but also to take action.”

Mark Anderson’s SNS Global Report (, “the world’s most reliable source of advanced information at the intersection of technology and the economy,” is read by the likes of Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Elon Musk, Paul Allen and Paul Jacobs. He is also the founder and chair of the Future in Review (FiRe) Conference (, named “the best technology conference in the world” by The Economist.

Anderson has earned an international reputation for his contributions in areas as diverse as technology, education, computing, economics, genetics, physics and medicine. His various projects serve everyone from students (Project Inkwell) to killer whales (Orca Relief Citizens’ Alliance) – and his economic forecasts are uncanny. Anderson has accurately predicted the Great Financial Collapse of 2007 and the oil price collapse as well as major tech trends, such as the advent and success of CarryAlong computers (pads and notebooks) in 1997 and the first detailed description of the “internet assistant” (now known as Siri, Google Now and Dragon Go!) in 1998.

In addition to his regular appearances on National Public Radio, the BBC and elsewhere, his work is currently published in the Financial Times and Forbes, and is covered by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and many other publications. As a global expert on the new Chinese national “InfoMercantilist”  business model, and as founder and chair of the INVNT/IP Global Consortium, Anderson has briefed The White House and Cabinet-level ministers in Australia, the US and the UK on economic security issues.

“Ideas into Actions: Technology Breakthroughs, Great Futures” takes an optimistic approach to the current state of affairs, describing SNS’ international team effort to achieve positive global outcomes, from preventing pandemics and building radically more powerful “pattern computers”  to talking with your dog, protecting yourself from China’s economic collapse, and much more. Sharon Anderson Morris, SNS Programs Director and Managing Director of SNS FiReFilms, will interview Mr. Anderson. The evening concludes with a question and answer session with the audience.

PCI’s partnership with the innovative Strategic News Service allows the Park City, Utah-based, non-profit organization to introduce the community to some of the world’s greatest minds and ideas. In addition to Mr. Anderson’s Nov. 20 event, upcoming “Future in Review” speakers include: Bibop Gresta, Deputy Chairman and COO, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies Ltd. (January 8, 2016); Christopher Clark, Imogene Johnson Senior Scientist at Cornell University and Chief Marine Scientist, Planet OS (February 5, 2016); and Leah Boyer, Director of Stem Cell Core Laboratory, Salk Institute (March 25, 2016).
