RIVERHORSE HOSTS JAMES BEARD FOUNDATION’S CELEBRITY CHEF TOUR DINNER

April 22 2015

PARK CITY, Utah (April 22, 2015) — This is one star-studded dinner party you won’t want to miss.

The Celebrity Chef Tour returns to Riverhorse on Main this spring for an evening of food, wine and camaraderie. Award-winning chef Seth Adams will host James Beard Award Nominee Martin Rios, owner and executive chef of elegant Restaurant Martin in Santa Fe and long list nominee Charleen Badman, the owner and executive chef of Arizona’s beloved FnB, Bodega Market and AZ Wine Merchants; Gabe Kennedy, a globe-trotting chef who won ABC’s “The Taste” and has served as private chef to professional athletes, foreign dignitaries and the Clinton family. And two celebrated local Utah Chefs; Chefs Briar Handly and Katie Weinner.

A graduate of the New England Culinary Institute, local chef Briar Handly of  Handly’s,  new Park City restaurant Handle has attracted rave reviews, plus a write-up in the New York Times, will also be on hand.  In addition, Katie Weinner, owner and executive chef for SLC POP will be in attendance. Originally a Minnesota native, Weinner’s goal for SLC POP is to merge the idea of modern fine dining and eclectic dinner parties. She thrives on working with exotic ingredients and spinning classic ingredients into something amazing.

What’s more, the culinary treats aren’t just the food: Master coffee brewer Chef Bryan David Scott will also be on hand, brewing and serving Black Label and Paramount, two of the most exclusive coffees in the world.

Duckhorn Vineyards, a premier Napa Valley producer of Bordeaux varietals, will be providing the wine.

The evening takes place Saturday, June 13, at 7 p.m. Tickets cost

$175, and proceeds go toward the educational and programming arm of the James Beard Foundation. Buy tickets at http://www.jamesbeard.org/events/park-city-ut

“That night is going to be an incredible event — the food, the drinks, the banter. It’s going to be a thrill just to watch and cook with Charleen, Gabe and Martin, and you can be sure the dishes are going to be incredible, too,” Adams said. “Bryan’s coffees are a particularly special treat and privilege — I can’t imagine a better way to finish the evening.”

Launched in 2004, the Celebrity Chef Tour brings the experience of dining at New York City's historic James Beard House to cities around the country. At each Celebrity Chef Tour dinner, top chefs create fantastic multi-course dinners, each paired with premium wines or authentic Belgian beers.

Just as at the James Beard House, guests have the rare opportunity to interact with these participating chefs while enjoying the luxurious atmosphere of the nation's finest restaurants.

“You’re going to see a level of artistry and craftsmanship here that you won't soon forget,” Adams said.

Best described as “an eclectic American restaurant,” Riverhorse on Main has been Park City’s premier dining spot since 1987, boasting an inventive genius in the kitchen that’s earned a long list of dining accolades, from repeated AAA Four-Diamond Awards to the prestigious DiRoNa Award to — most notably — one of fewer than 150 Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star ratings in the U.S.

Adams has been at the helm of Riverhorse since 2004, and has transformed the restaurant into the trendy, urban setting it is today.

Adams keeps guests happy with a mix of creative and expressive dishes, which use flavors reflecting the season and his own inspiration, and long-standing, crowd-pleasing favorites, such as Macadamia Nut-Crusted Halibut and the Trio of Wild Game: buffalo, venison and elk.

About the James Beard Foundation (JBF)

Founded in 1986, the James Beard Foundation celebrates, nurtures, and honors America's diverse culinary heritage through programs that educate and inspire. A cookbook author and teacher with an encyclopedic knowledge about food, James Beard, who died in 1985, was a champion of American cuisine. He helped educate and mentor generations of professional chefs and food enthusiasts, instilling in them the value of wholesome, healthful, and delicious food. Today JBF continues in the same spirit by administering a number of diverse programs that include educational initiatives, food industry awards, scholarships for culinary students, publications, chef advocacy training, and thought-leader convening. The Foundation also maintains the historic James Beard House in New York City’s Greenwich Village as a “performance space” for visiting chefs. In September of 2012, JBF launched the Diplomatic Culinary Partnership with the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Protocol and helped create the American Chef Corps as a way to champion American chefs abroad, promote American food products, and foster an interest in American culinary culture and history through international programs and initiatives. One such project is the next world’s fair, Expo Milano 2015, for which the James Beard Foundation is co-leading the effort for the State Department to design and produce the USA Pavilion, a global gathering of 147 countries addressing the challenges of how we will feed ourselves in the future. The pavilion, whose theme will be “American Food 2.0: United to Feed the Planet,” will showcase America’s contributions to global food security and gastronomy. For more information, please visit jamesbeard.org.
