SAVE THE DATE TO HELP WASATCH BREWERY & SUNRISE ROTARY “TAKE A SHOT” AT THE BRECKENRIDGE SHOT SKI RECORD!

August 3 2016

Salt Lake City – (July 2016) – Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 22nd, when beer lovers will line up from the top of Park City’s historic Main Street all the way to Heber Avenue and raise one long ski to take a “shot” of Wasatch Premium Ale in celebration of Wasatch’s 30th Anniversary and to raise money for the Sunrise Rotary.

“As we were brainstorming ideas for to celebrate Wasatch’s 30th Anniversary, we came across an article about the annual Shot Ski in Breckenridge that is a part of the town’s annual Ullr celebration, and thought that it would be fun to see if we could beat their record of 881 participants”, says Doug Hofeling, Chief Operating Officer of Salt Lake Brewing Company.  “Ironically, the day after we decided to incorporate the Shot Ski into our anniversary celebration, our marketing director attended a meeting with the Sunrise Rotary, who had also seen the article and wanted to give the idea a try as a fundraiser.  And so we decided to team up, rally all of our Park City residents, and break the record!  Our goal is to enlist 1,000 participants and start a friendly rivalry with Breckenridge,” says Hofeling.

Tickets for the fundraiser will be $15, with all profits going to the Sunrise Rotary.  In addition to bragging rights, every participant will receive a bumper sticker that participants can place on their car or their skis to prove their participation.  The actual shot of beer will take place at 2:00, but revelers will be encouraged to come at noon and enjoy the beer garden that will be in place in the Wasatch Brew Pub parking lot, with games and live music by the Utah County Swillers following the Shot Ski.  Of course, lots of Wasatch award-winning brews will be available for purchase as well!  (Since the event involves the consumption of alcohol, all participants must be 21.)

“We are so excited to be partnering with Wasatch on breaking the record”, says Connie Nelson, Sunrise Rotary member.  “We will be providing volunteers to help coordinate the Shot Ski, and are also in the process of collecting 350 skis to bolt together.  Our goal is to make this an annual event, growing bigger every year.  And we think that this inaugural Shot Ski is the perfect way to celebrate Wasatch’s 30th anniversary while raising money for a great cause!”

The event site to purchase tickets will go live today, July 27th, and tickets are expected to sell out quickly.   For more information and to purchase tickets, go to wasatchbeers.com/shotski.aspx.

Anyone with alpine skis that they wish to donate to the cause may drop their skis off at the Wasatch Brew Pub, 250 Main.
