Ski Until It Hurts for Combat Wounded Warriors on February 26th at Snowbasin.

February 4 2015

Spend the day on February 26th schussing down Snowbasin Resort’s 3,000 skiable acres and shredding the terrain for the first-ever “Ski Until It Hurts”, a charitable fundraiser for Wounded Wear, a 501-c-3 nonprofit that’s mission is to help combat wounded warriors find a purpose-driven life and peace of mind after the impact of war. The day begins with skiing and snowboarding at Snowbasin Ski Resort and ends with a charity dinner and silent auction at the Courtyard by Marriott in Ogden.

“This is our first charity event involving skiing and we are extremely excited to be partnering with Snowbasin and all the other Utah entities who are working so hard to make this event a success and broaden our message” said Jason Redman, founder of Wounded Wear.

Wounded Wear is a Virginia-based nonprofit that was founded by Lieutenant Jason Redman, former Navy Seal and author of The Trident.  During combat, he was injured so severely that it took years of medical operations to rebuild Redman’s face.

What Redman yearned for most during his many extended hospital stays was a pair of pajamas. It was the memory of this and the trials of his recovery that enticed him and his wife to found Wounded Wear.

Wounded Wear provides pajama bottoms and the necessary altered clothing needed by rehabilitating and recovering wounded warriors. It also provides a series of programs and experiences for wounded warriors to regain their self-confidence and sense of life.

Ski Until It Hurts day’s skiing and snowboarding will occur from 9 am – 4 pm. Raffles for ski gear, lift tickets and other prizes will occur throughout the day. The evening dinner and silent auction will occur from 6:30 pm - 10 pm at the Courtyard by Marriott-Ogden. Redman will be the inspirational keynote speaker. He will speak about his tireless efforts to give back to wounded veterans after his recovery and the impetus behind his book “The Trident-The Forging and Re-forging of a Naval Seal Leader.” He will also recount the story of his operation to capture an Al-Qaeda High Value Individual and the ensuing firefight that left Redman severely wounded.

Advanced tickets for the day of skiing and/or snowboarding event are $80 and $75 for the charitable dinner event/silent auction or $155 for both events.
