Stein Eriksen Lodge Announces Star Wars-Themed Gingerbread House

November 22 2016

PARK CITY, Utah (November 2016) – As the hugely popular Star Wars craze continues, Stein Eriksen Lodge will bring a Star Wars-themed gingerbread house to its annual crowd-pleasing gingerbread display. The presentation will be showcased in the Mountain Lodge next to a towering, 32-foot, lavishly decorated tree to delight and awe guests this Christmas season. The public is invited to attend the annual tree lighting and reveal of the gingerbread display on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016.

Each holiday season for the past 15 years, Stein Eriksen Lodge guests and the general public anxiously await the unveiling of the elaborate gingerbread masterpieces created by the Executive Pastry Chef. The gingerbread display requires months of planning and preparation by a team of gingerbread specialists, all overseen by Chef Zane Holmquist, VP of Food & Beverage Operations, Corporate Chef. With assistance from both the engineering and culinary departments, the gingerbread display generally requires a staff of more than ten people, with at least three working on it at a time. This year's gingerbread house will be in the shape of a Star Wars AT-AT Walker with legs over seven feet tall and the main body just over four feet, making the full height of the display over 11 feet tall and 12 feet long. To create this display, the teams will use more than 50 pounds of molasses, 40 dozen eggs, 250 pounds of sugar and 4 pounds of pure spices for the gingerbread alone!

“It is always fun to tie our gingerbread displays into something in pop culture that delights guests of all ages,” said Jeremy Garcia, Stein Eriksen Lodge's Executive Pastry Chef. “The holiday season is such a beautiful, magical time at the Lodge and these gingerbread displays are something guests look forward to seeing year after year.”

Past year's showpieces have included scenes from movies, such as PeanutsFrozenDespicable Me 2 and Harry Potter, and fanciful replicas, such as the Eiffel Tower and Empire State Building.
