DEER VALLEY RESORT, PARK CITY, UTAH (July 18, 2016) – Three of Deer Valley Resort’s renowned evening restaurants; Fireside Dining, Seafood Buffet and The Mariposa, have been honored for their outstanding wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2016 Restaurant Wine List Awards. These restaurants are recognized among other winners from all over the globe as a top destination for wine lovers.
“On behalf of Wine Spectator, I’m thrilled to congratulate each and every award-winning restaurant. They should be very proud,” said Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher, Wine Spectator.
“To have three of our restaurants recognized this year is a huge achievement and we couldn’t be more proud of the experience we are able to offer in each establishment,” said Deer Valley Director of Food and Beverage, Jodie Rogers. “We have an incredibly dedicated staff and it is evident when receiving honors like these.”
Wine Spectator began its program to recognize the world’s best wine lists in 1981. There are three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award—with 2,414; 1,093; and 88 winners this year in each respective category.
Fireside Dining, Seafood Buffet and The Mariposa won the Award of Excellence, which recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.
Receiving this distinction for the second consecutive year, Fireside Dining at Empire Canyon Lodge features four courses served from our stone fireplaces. Enjoy warm Swiss raclette cheese, cured meats, salads, specialty entrees, hearty sides, fire-roasted leg of lamb, fresh baked breads and dessert fondues. A full bar is available, as well as specially selected wines and imported beer to complement our cuisine.
Winning the award for the first time is Deer Valley’s Seafood Buffet. The extravagant spread is located in the Snow Park Lodge during the winter season and offers a vast array of fresh seafood including poke, chilled shellfish, hot seafood appetizers and entrées, roast duck, prime rib, vegetable specialties and fabulous desserts. Fine wines, beer and cocktails are available.
The Mariposa has earned the Award of Excellence for six consecutive years and features an intimate setting with crackling fireplaces that sets the mood for an elegant dinner at Deer Valley's premier evening restaurant. Savor a variety of dishes and explore the world of flavors from our small plates menu. Each item is a tasting size portion, inviting guests to comfortably enjoy multiple selections.
The complete list of award winners is available in print in Wine Spectator’s August issue, on newsstands July 19, and online at the newly minted Restaurants.WineSpectator.com, where visitors can search and access exclusive content on the more than 3,500 restaurants. The full list is also available for free on iOS via the new Restaurant Awards app, which allows users to look for dining spots in any location with maps, choosing by wine strengths, cuisine type, pricing and more.
