Utah Olympic Park introduces new winter sport-themed day camp for kids ages nine to 13

Park City, Utah – Utah Olympic Park introduces the Olympic Adventure Camp, a day camp designed for kids ages nine to 13. With the Olympic Adventure Camp, the venue is testing out a one-day program where kids can try a variety of ski disciplines as well as sliding sports.

Olympic Adventure Camp is offered on Saturdays, from January 2 to March 19, 2016. This full-day program (9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.) features a 1:5 coach to participant ratio. Participants should have intermediate skiing abilities.

“Utah’s Olympic legacy sets the state apart as a winter vacation destination,” said Marc Norman, vice-president of sport and venues for the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation. “We look forward to sharing with visitors and locals alike the excitement and positive impact of winter sports. This camp could very well be a launching point for a future Olympian.”

The program itinerary includes a half-day session focused on Alpine skiing skills, Nordic ski jumping and freeride skiing skills. There will be a break for lunch with an opportunity to explore the Alf Engen Ski Museum and Eccles 2002 Olympic Winter Games Museum. The afternoon includes a half-day session introducing sliding sports using “Laser Luge” sleds on snow followed by the new Extreme Tubing activity on the K20 and K40 Nordic Ski Jumps.

With three in-house sport clubs—FLY Freestyle, Park City Nordic Ski Club, and G-Force Bobsled & Skeleton Club—Utah Olympic Park has traditionally offered season-long sport programs or supported after school programming such as Get Out And Play. The Olympic Adventure Camp is designed to offer visitors or locals looking for a less time-intensive multi-sport program for kids. 

Registration is available online at UtahOlympicLegacy.org or in person at the Utah Olympic Park. The camp costs $195 per person and includes lunch and snacks.
