Utah Resorts Seeking Seasonal Employees

September 26 2017

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (September 2017) – Utah ski resorts are currently working to fill their seasonal rosters by offering extensive employee perks and the ability to ski and/or ride The Greatest Snow on Earth all season long.

“Seasonal winter employment at any of Utah’s resorts is a great opportunity,” says Nathan Rafferty, CEO/President of Ski Utah. “Resort seasonal hiring is an essential part of our Utah winter economy, with many resorts increasing staffing by hundreds of people.”

Examples of resort staffing increase:

  • Deer Valley: from 200 year-round to 2,800 winter employees
  • Solitude: from 150 year-round to 550 winter employees
  • Snowbasin: From 115 year-round to 700 winter employees
  • Brighton: from 35 year-round to 600 winter employees
  • Snowbird: from 400 year-round to over 1,900 winter employees

Working at a resort includes perks (varies per resort) like:

  • Full season ski pass
  • Inexpensive dependent season pass
  • UTA ski bus pass
  • Health benefits
  • Ski/Ride perks at other local resorts
  • Discount at rental, lesson, food & beverage and retail shops

Also, one season might turn a passion into a career. “We have a great culture of employee development as many of our employees are able to grow and develop by working in different departments at the resort,” says Mark Paterson, HR Director at Snowbird. “A significant number of our management team throughout the resort started working as seasonal staff.”
