Utah’s Strengths Shine Bright in SKI Magazine’s Annual Reader Survey

Resorts Earn Top Spot in 7 of 18 Reader Survey Categories

 

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH- Utah ski resorts topped the charts of the 2014 SKI magazine reader survey. Deer Valley Resort was ranked number two for the third consecutive year, with seven top rankings in survey categories divisions including access and service. Joining Deer Valley on the top 30 list, Park City Mountain Resort at number seven, Canyons Resort at number 14, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort ranked number 21, Alta Ski Resort ranked number 28, Solitude Resort ranked 29 and Snowbasin Resort ranked 30. 

 

Deer Valley received the top rating in seven of the 18 category divisions including “Grooming,” “Service,” “Access,” “On-mountain Food,” “Lodging,” “Dining” and “Family Programs.”

 

Along with incredible representation in the overall rankings, Utah resorts dominated the categories Ski Utah considers its greatest assets – access and snow. “Access and Snow are two things that Utah’s Resorts pride themselves on. These two traits, paired with all else that Utah has to offer, continue to push Utah to the top of the rankings,” said Ski Utah President Nathan Rafferty. “We are thrilled to see Utah’s resorts ranked so highly amongst skiers across the nation.”

 

With 11 resorts less than an hour from the Salt Lake City International Airport, seven of the top 10 listings for “access” were Utah resorts (#1 Deer Valley, #2 Park City Mountain Resort, #3 Canyons, #5 Snowbird, #6 Alta, #7 Solitude, #8 Brighton).

 

Famous for its trademarked Greatest Snow on Earth® and average annual snowfall of 500 inches, four of the top ten listings for “Snow” were Utah resorts (#2 Alta, #3 Powder Mountain, #5 Snowbird, #6 Brighton, #7 Solitude).

 

Utah’s resorts ranked high in “On-mountain Food,” “Lodging” and “Lifts,” with three resorts in the top 10 of each category.
