WORLD-CLASS MUSIC FILLS THE NIGHT AIR DURING DEER VALLEY SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

June 9 2017

DEER VALLEY RESORT; PARK CITY, UTAH (June 2017) – The return of summer means the return of outdoor concerts at the renowned Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. With a full calendar of shows performing on Deer Valley’s stage multiple times a week, there is something to fit any musical preference. World-renowned artists, headlining musicians and local bands perform open-air during the Utah Symphony | Utah Opera’s Deer Valley® Music Festival, Park City Institute’s St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Outdoor Concert Series and the Grand Valley Bank Free Community Concert Series presented by Mountain Town Music.

“We are committed to presenting world-class musical entertainment from a wide variety of genres in our idyllic slope-side setting,” said Bob Wheaton, president and general manager of Deer Valley Resort. “Escaping to the music and enjoying the mountain sounds is the perfect way to conclude a fun-filled day in Park City. Each season, visiting guests plan their vacations around the concert series and it has become a favorite pastime for guests and locals.”

The Utah Symphony | Utah Opera's Deer Valley® Music Festival has made Deer Valley Resort its summer home for 14 consecutive years, bringing with them time-honored favorites and exciting guest performers. Sticking with tradition, a patriotic celebration concert will open the festival on Saturday, July 1. New this year is a full movie screening presented in conjunction with the live orchestra performing the score: “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” will be shown outdoors on big screens while the Utah Symphony performs the entire soundtrack live to picture. Another concert with a film element, “A Dream is a Wish,” will feature several Disney film clips from “Frozen,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Pocahontas,” and “Beauty and the Beast,” while the symphony performs the scores.

Additional festival highlights include Patti Austin honoring jazz great Ella Fitzgerald, the original Beach Boys, Hamilton’s Broadway star Leslie Odom, Jr., Diana Krall in a solo performance, Ben Folds and Classical Mystery Tour – a tribute to the Beatles. The 2017 season also includes Gershwin’s Greatest Hits featuring Rhapsody in Blue, the Music of Prince and time-honored Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and Piano Concerto No. 1 with live cannon fire on the hillside. Show times and ticket information is available at deervalleymusicfestival.org.

The St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Outdoor Concert Series, presented by the Park City Institute, has always delivered legendary performers, as well as upcoming artists to discover. Whether its country, rock, Louisiana-infused jazzy sounds, roots or alternative, it’s difficult to tell who is having more fun—guests or the artists. The shows set to define summer nights at Deer Valley this year include Aloe Blacc, Melissa Etheridge, X Ambassadors, Kellie Pickler, American Acoustic-Punch Brothers with I’m With Her, Josh Turner, Five for Fighting, San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, Smash Mouth with Cracker and The Romantics and Parsonfield with Jeffrey Foucault and Laney Jones and the Spirits. Visit parkcityinstitute.org for show dates, times and ticket information.

The Grand Valley Bank Community Concert Series presented by Mountain Town Music has become a favorite weekly ritual for locals and visitors. This free event is for all ages and highlights local musical acts every Wednesday night June 21 to August 23. This year’s musical showcase includes such acts as Changing Lanes Experience, The Soulistics, Joshy Soul & The Cool, Ryan Hiller, Caleb Chapman and the Crescent Super Band, Talia Keys & The Love, Mokie, Candy’s River House and Frisson. The series culminates with a Park City All Star Jam Session on August 23. New this summer, gates will open at 4 p.m. with an opening band taking the stage at 5:30 p.m. and the headlining act performing from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. Additional information is available at mountaintownmusic.org.
