SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (January 4, 2018) - The month of January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month with over 100 resorts nationwide participating but here in Utah, Gov. Gary Herbert made it official (proclamation copied below) with 13 of Utah’s resorts actively participating in the growth of the sport. Each resort has a unique ski/ride package but all are tailored for first time skiers and snowboarders.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. During its first year, participating resorts nationwide provided just over 20,000 beginner lessons. Over the past nine years, upwards of ONE MILLION beginner lessons have been given as part of this national initiative. “This is a great accomplishment for a grass roots effort that has depended on its partners to execute and promote,” said MaryJo Tarallo, Executive Director of the Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month initiative.
Utah’s resorts have celebrated this challenge since the beginning and continue to do so by offering unique deals during the month of January. Most mountains are offering a 2-hour lesson, rentals and lift ticket for $49. A complete list of resort deals and discounts can be found at www.skiutah.com/lssm.
“This January, resorts are making it easy and affordable for every Utahan to learn to ski or snowboard,” exclaims Raelene Davis, Ski Utah’s Marketing Director. “Every Utahan should put learning to ski or snowboard at the top of their New Year’s resolution list. It’s easy, affordable and a fun way to stay active during the winter months. After all, humans were never meant to hibernate.
New this year, newcomers can receive a $50 gift voucher from skis.com or snowboards.com simply by sending in proof of having taken a beginner lesson from a pro. They can also win prizes by posting photos of themselves their first day on the slopes using the hashtag #firstdayfaces. Prizes include $250 gift vouchers from Liftopia.com, GetSkTickets.com, Skis.com or Snowboards.com. Contest runs through February 23, 2018 at the conclusion of the Olympic Winter Games.
