Ski Utah Employment Opportunity


To direct a strategically sound, well-organized public relations campaign in unison with the marketing team by proactively increasing local and national awareness of the Utah ski product through positive media exposure highlighting Utah’s core strengths of access, snow, value, and variety.



  1. Plan and execute an annual public relations plan/campaign
  2. Create and manage a comprehensive public relations budget
  3. Act as spokesperson for Ski Utah and Utah’s ski industry
  4. Create positive relationships with local and national media representatives
  5. Use creative events and delivery methods to build upon Utah’s branding message
  6. Complement Ski Utah’s marketing and advertising campaign with strategic messaging
  7. Maintain company editorial brand through copywriting and creation



  1. Produce news releases and public service announcements as needed
  2. Organize and participate in media calls to local and national media outlets
  3. Produce and direct national media events in New York City and other media markets annually
  4. Produce and direct local media events including local media day, roundtable discussion lunch, and summer publicity event
  5. Schedule and/or perform regular media interviews
  6. Host industry press conferences
  7. Host visiting journalists, including initiation of visit, arranging itineraries and coordination of trip details
  8. Respond to requests from journalists for information and photography
  9. Proactively pitch local and national media on storylines and ideas
  10. Produce and oversee distribution of media kit and associated collateral material
  11. Update photo library as needed
  12. Update winter and summer b-roll footage as needed
  13. Manage a current media database
  14. Produce and distribute multimedia and video footage
  15. Manage editorial clipping file including distribution of clips to Ski Utah members
  16. Coordinate Ski Utah PR Committee meetings and events
  17. Participate in professional communication organizations (NASJA/SATW)
  18. Edit and proofread published collateral distributed by Ski Utah
  19. Monitor media trends for new industry opportunities
  20. Ability to work effectively with state-wide resort PR teams and support varying levels of resources while understanding the unique dynamics of each association.



  1. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or a related field and at least five years of project management experience in a communications or public relations role
  2. Documented effectiveness in motivating journalists to publish story ideas that communicate a central theme or message
  3. Proven ability to develop media programs to accomplish strategic objectives
  4. Experience in crafting press releases, media advisories, advertorial writing, copywriting and video news releases
  5. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  6. Extensive knowledge of the tourism industry preferred as well as knowledge of Utah skiing/snowboarding product
  7. Knowledge of media market, and travel/tourism and lifestyle media contacts preferred
  8. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on journalist and office demands
  9. Ability to travel required
  10. Strong understanding and experience working with all media platforms:
