SNOWBIRD, UT -- Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort is honored to host a tree lighting ceremony and fundraiser, named Highly Decorated, to  benefit Wasatch Adaptive Sports, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that serves people with disabilities, including Veterans and Active Military.  For every light purchased, a corresponding bulb will be lit at a tree lighting ceremony on the Plaza Deck at Snowbird on Dec. 21 at 4:30 p.m.

“Every light on our trees represents the service and sacrifice of our Veterans and Active Military,” said Bob Bonar, President of Snowbird.  “Our Veterans trees will remain lit throughout the 2013-14 winter season as a symbol of our freedom and a beacon of hope.

The community can support Highly Decorated by purchasing lights for the trees. One light will be lit for each $50 donation, and one strand of lights for every $1,000 donation.

All proceeds will support the Wasatch Adaptive Sports Veterans Program. This program provides therapeutic recreational, educational and social activities to Veterans with special needs with the goal of promoting healing, health, and overall well-being. Activities include adaptive, alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, fishing, camping, handcycling, biking, stand up paddle boarding and Snowbird summer activities.

Wasatch Adaptive Sports partners with the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort and the U.S. Forest Service.
